A Delightful Addition

The ducklings, who hatched recently, represent the newest members of our growing City Farm initiative. They join our existing family of animals and plants that help demonstrate sustainable urban living practices to our community members.
“We’re absolutely delighted with these new arrivals, we put four eggs in the incubator and all four hatched!”
says Hywel Williams, Farm Manager.

“They’re not just incredibly cute – their mucky bedding will be composted with other materials providing nutrition for our garden beds and our ducks even eat the slugs and snails that we find eating our crops!”

Educational Opportunity
The ducklings will also serve as an educational resource for local schools and community groups who visit the farm. Children and adults alike have the opportunity to learn about duck lifecycles and care requirements.
“There’s something magical about watching children connect with animals,” Williams adds. “These ducklings will help our youngest community members understand where food comes from and how we can live in harmony with nature, even in urban settings.” Schools, Nurseries and other groups can book visits by emailing: cityfarm@stpaulstrust.org.uk

Please note that slots available for the public to book vary day to day depending on our group sessions and private bookings. It’s free to book but we politely ask for donations to help us care for the animals, support with running costs and our ongoing work on the farm.
