A tribute to Joe Holyoak

Together St Paul’s is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Joe Holyoak, a much-respected architect, local historian, and passionate champion of Balsall Heath and its communities.

Joe gave so much of his time, knowledge, and energy to the area he called home. From his work helping secure Birmingham’s first Neighbourhood Plan, to his involvement with Balsall Heath Forum, the Neighbourhood Strategic Partnership, and the campaign to protect and restore Moseley Road Baths, he was a tireless advocate for the community.

Joe was thoughtful, determined and never afraid to speak up for what he believed was right. His passion for Balsall Heath, its heritage and its future inspired many people and helped shape the community we know today.

His contribution will be remembered with great respect and gratitude, and he will be greatly missed.

Our thoughts are with Joe’s family, friends and all those who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him. ❤️
