Building a Healthier Future with the NHS – From the Heart of Balsall Heath

St Paul’s Community Development Trust has been serving Balsall Heath for over 50 years, providing early years and family support, education, youth engagement, and community development services.
We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to live a healthy, fulfilling life, and we’re committed to working with partners to make this vision a reality.
Building a Healthier Future with the NHS – From the Heart of Balsall Heath
The NHS 10-Year Plan, “Fit for the Future,” is a positive step towards prevention-focused, community-based healthcare — something we’ve championed at St Paul’s Community Development Trust for over 50 years.
From tackling health inequalities to strengthening neighbourhood services, this plan echoes what we’ve long known: real health happens in communities.
Our Response:
· Trusted local spaces ready to host neighbourhood health services
· Bilingual, culturally competent teams rooted in the community
· Digital inclusion support to ensure everyone benefits from tech-driven care
· Urban farm, youth work & family support tackling the real causes of poor health
Why It Matters:
In Balsall Heath, life expectancy is 6 years lower than in Birmingham’s wealthiest areas. 38% of children live in poverty. We’re seeing the health inequalities the NHS plan aims to address — and we’re ready to act.
Let’s Partner Up:
We’re always looking to collaborate with NHS teams, GPs, local leaders, and funders to co-deliver:
· Community health programmes
· Mental health & resilience support for children and families
· Family and youth early intervention
· Culturally appropriate, locally delivered services
We’re not just aligned with the NHS plan – we’re already delivering it.
