International Day of Charity

Today is a chance to recognise the contribution of charities and community organisations — but also to reflect on why our sector matters.
At Together St Paul’s, we see every day that meaningful change doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens through relationships, trust, partnership and people who care about their community.
From supporting families and young people, to creating opportunities through education, wellbeing, volunteering and our community farm, our work is about being there — listening, responding and investing in people and place.
And behind every statistic is a person: a child gaining confidence, a parent feeling less alone, a young person finding somewhere they belong, or a volunteer sharing their time and skills.

But the numbers only tell part of the story.
The challenges facing communities and the charity sector are significant. Demand is growing, financial pressures remain real, and the gaps between need and available resources can feel increasingly difficult to bridge. But this is also a sector full of creativity, resilience, expertise and community power.
For us, charity is not simply about what we do for communities. It is about what we build with them.
So today, we say thank you to our staff, volunteers, trustees, partners, funders and — most importantly — the communities who trust us to walk alongside them.
Together, we can continue to create a fairer and brighter future for communities.
